Saturday
On Saturday we hit the Metropolitan Museum of Art for an amazing exhibit on occult and spiritual photography.
I loved it so much that I purchased the exhibit book.
However, the museum also has very cool artists many people would recognize: Jasper Johns, Chuck Close, Warhol, Picasso, Braques, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Ingres, Miro, de Chirico, Dali, Calder, Lichenstein, Dine, de Kooning, Cezanne, etc. I mean, if you like that sort of thing.
As for myself, I really enjoyed wandering the halls aimlessly, staring at Andy Warhol's giant skull, Chuck Close's enormous face and Rosenquist's cellophane-wrapped dolls. Miro is always a huge favorite, of course. And Gauguin is always so edible..... le sigh.
We also toddled around Park and Madison avenues, watched a very large crowd of protesters who were very angry about the lack of affordable housing, accidentally watched a Czechoslovakian street festival, and had the loveliest lunch at the Eat Cafe (I had duck with an avocado and endive salad).
We then dressed in a highly adorable manner and oozed on over to the Orbit Gallery for Kathie's solo show. We hung out with Harry the owner, who is terribly amusing and very knowledgeable about Warhol, as well as Evan-with-the-vintage-handbag-shop, who was wearing delectable leopard-print shoes. A few Blue Sky animators showed up, as well as our friend Josh who makes very good skateboarding films.
Kathie sold rather a lot of art, and I had rather a lot of sangria. So really, a very good time was had by all.
Here are Brandt and Kathie and our friend Josh in front of Orbit Gallery.

Holy mackeral. I even recognized a few of those names you threw out to us! Not the Kathie and Brandt ones, but the others.
Sounds like you've had yourself quite the little New York City time of it. Good job.
