Going, Going.... Gone?
Going completely down the tubes...
It looks very much as if Fantasy Fest will be cancelled this year, which makes me distinctly unhappy. My aunt evacuated to the usual place, but the last thing I heard was that water was coming through the door-- and apparently Duval Street is flooded.
Hopefully everyone down there is okay (not everyone evacuated)-- and perhaps they shall reschedule the festivities for another week as it brings millions of dollars in revenues down to the Keys every year.
To-day I am puttering uselessly around the house and painting a bit. Half of my block lost power last night, but other than that we're only getting strong sustained winds on our very first chilly day of the year.

Dearest L,
I am sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip but very glad that you were wise enough to do so. After all, I don't believe that you have trained an assistant to complete your blogs, which are life's blood to your loyal readers.
I hope that you will check out my recent blog on antique Vanity Fair prints, I believe that you will find it edifying and entertaining.
I am enjoying Borges at your suggestion. Thanks for helping to file a few of the rough edges off of me.
So sorry your trip didn't pan out. I'll bet you can find some way to enjoy another sort of festivities somehow.
Glad to hear you're okay, L. Came here purposely just now to check after the storm.
Are you painting your body. You could post pictures of that.
Sorry you won't be able to go to the festival..
professor: I did check out the Vanity Fair prints-- they are quite interesting, my Dear Sir. Glad to hear that you are enjoying Borges, as he is quite delicious and writes in a wonderfully edible manner.
weary hag: we didn't really get anything, for which I am grateful, and I have managed to take a couple of days off anyway...
happyandblue: nope, just painting a picture :)
Sorry your trip got cancelled, you are more than welcome to come to a Halloween party up here in CT but I highly doubt it will be NEARLY as much fun
Oh yeah, that hurricane thing. The US public should have already shifted interest onto the next great tragedy, The new ashlee simpson CD.
Hwhat? People are still fighting in Afghanistan? That's so early 2000s.
Glad you're safe!! Hope you find something else fun to do if they don't have the festival.
just saw on keysnews.com that they're thinking of rescheduling for early December...
Glad you are safe! Sorry it was cancelled. I sure hope Duval street is OK. That place is a blast.
Miss Congeniality: I think I will be hitting a couple of parties this weekend, which will be interesting-- I can't remember the last time I was in town for Halloween!
Glomgold: the American public DOES seem to have a very short attention span
Lisa: I will think of something :)
tickgirl: as long as it doesn't conflict with the art BASAL thing in Miami :o
Carol: me too! we are very, very lucky that we didn't get hit. Apparently, Duval saw some heavy flooding though...
So sorry for your bad news. At least you are safe from both the hurricane and Ashlee Simpson.
New FF dates: Dec. 7-10

i'm sorry your plans have been shelved. glad to see you're ok.
must go eat....famished you see...
Ms. Vile: yes, that is true. However, some of my relatives are still without power... but at least everyone is safe
Tickgirl: ooh! I will check it against the BASAL dates in Miami!
Mr. Anigans: well, don't starve yourself on MY account :)
I hope you get your plans back on track as soon as the hurricanes are through and it is safe for you to go and vacation your little heart out.
Oh my dear, I'm sorry your vacay took a nosedive. I do hope you were able to have at least some bits of fun.
thanks guys :)
