Ready To Move...

As I hadn't died or expelled any internal organs this weekend, I decided that to-day would be a great day to ooze my way over to St. Petersburg to sign the lease for my adorable new apartment.

Coughing and wheezing in a stylishly consumptive manner, I signed away (with purple sparkly pen) oodles of my money for deposit, first month's rent and last month's rent. Oh well, it was just burning a hole in my pocket anyway.

Being the geek that I am, I thoroughly enjoyed measuring things at the new place, jotting numbers down, drawing cute little diagrams, and measuring again. Hopefully I can fit all my bookcases, or I will be stacking my collection of circus freak books on top of the refrigerator. I think I shall spend a bit of time tomorow doodling my new layout...

Cons:
higher rent for a slightly smaller apartment
slightly longer drive to funky activities in Tampa

Pros:
adorable 1920s bungalow with hardwood floors, vintage tile and molding
large, shady backyard with trees, koi pond, and a yummy pineapple plant (almost ripe!)
indoor washer/dryer
gorgeous neighborhood with brick streets and oak trees
short walk/drive to cute park and various places with good food
a next-door neighbor who isn't psycho like my soon-to-be-ex-door neighboor (yay!)
non-evacuation zone!

Congratulations! And with hurricane season fast approaching, let me remind you of one of my former mantras when I lived in a 200-year-old house: "it's been here this long, it will weather this too."

What fun!

Mmmm...pineapple plant. As it turns out, the only edible items growing in St. Louis are lead paint chips flaking off of walls, though the health benefits of this indulgence are less apparent than those of pineapple. Enjoy your scrumptious new abode!

Congrats, dear! we'll again be in the same county (though I moved into an evacuation zone, so I might be over for the first hurricane).

I will miss your wonderful, sneezy company during hurricane watches and warnings! However I am very happy that your beloved books, paintings and furniture will be in a safer place.

I can't wait to see the new place! Shall we hav some champagne to celebrate the event? And strawberries perhaps?

Happy's comment cracked me up because when I read about your indoor washer/dryer, my first thought was "oh good for her!" I know just what you meant by it - somehow, and was glad for you to boot!
Good deal on the new digs! I'm sure you'll be quite happy in your little pineapple paradise.
(ps ... I've got peeps in St. Pete)

Good to see you again.

Have fun moving! The pros definitely seem to outweigh the cons - a sane next door neighbour probably being the biggest one!

Congrats, L!
From one who has several purple pens, wants some sparkly ones, and there is no other colour for pens than purple.
Best wishes in your new place!
